La verdad nunca pensé que este momento llegaría, aunque siempre lo soñé, siempre soñé con tener mi banda y poder cantar en Ingles y hacer música que parezca britpop o indie, o algo de eso, y esta banda lo a logrado, se hacen llamar “Hox” y son provenientes de Argentina(vamos carajo!!!), mas precisamente de Rio Negro, Bariloche, hacen musica desde octubre de 2008 y los integrantes del grupo son tan solo 2, los chicos se llaman Diego Pitriqueo (guitarra y voz) y Gonzalo Garcia Spitzer (Guitarra, Voz, Piano, Melodica, Arreglos y programaciones).Todos sus temas están en inglés y escritos por ellos, su música sinceramente me enamoro, sencillamente genial, su sonido esta inspirado en el sonido de bandas britanicas, sus influencias son bandas tales como Radiohead, Blur, Travis, Sigur Ros, Coldplay y Damien rice, y si la verdad que con esas influencias no puede salir nada malo, a mi su sonido me recuerda en general a bandas como Thirteen Senses, y obiamente consigo viene cierto parecido a travis, coldplay y demas, aunque estos chicos Argentos tienen un sonido mas feliz y motivador, hasta el momento han lanzado tan solo un album, su debut al que le dieron de nombre “who´s on my side?” y fue puesto en su blog oficial para ser descargado gratuitamente en julio del corriente año, todo el disco esta totalmente auto producido y da como resultado para mi, a la gran banda Argentina, sinceramente chicos todas mis felicitaciones para ustedes, me encanta lo que hacen, y nada mas…viva Argentina…

FELIZ CUMPLE HOX!!

Y si. Pasó un año desde aquel primer encuentro en casa de Gonza, después de que respondió al aviso en los clasificados.
Hoy es un día felíz, como casi todos, y por supuesto lo pasamos ensayando. Los dos solitos con el piano y la acústica, haciendo nuestros temas y alguna versión de esas que me sorprende lo lindas que salen y que Gonza no quiere grabar, porque se "pierde" tiempo... ja!
Lo único que tengo para decir es gracias; A Gonza por el talento, la amistad (y todo lo que ésta conlleva)y el buen gusto que le pone a la música. A las chicas, por las voces y la buena onda y predisposición en los ensayos; Y a los amigos que nos apoyan todos los días, musical y afectivamente. Vero, Andy, Juan, Lucho, el Turco, Tommy.
A Pao, porque me deja ser Hox, y porque sabe que la música me hace mejor!

DIFUSIÓN DEL DISCO

Esta semana nos dimos una vuelta por las radios presentando el disco, donde hicimos un mini recital acústico. También una publicación en el sitio de PUENTES AMARILLOS, revista cultural.
Va un agradecimiento entonces a la gente en la revista, a Guadalupe y Nahuel en FM La Rocka 98.7, y a Lucas y su equipo en FM Bariloche 89.1 y Km FM 96.5. Muchas muchas gracias por ayudarnos en la difusión del disco. Un abrazo grande!

HOX - who's on my side? nuestro primer disco en dúo con Gonzalo Garcia Spitzer

Puse un aviso clasificado por el cual conocí a Gonza a finales de septiembre de 2008. Nos unimos con la intención de generar y producir un disco en inglés, inspirado en el sonido de bandas británicas. Los temas están compuestos y musicalizados por nosotros y el álbum se terminó de gestar a principios de 2009. Es un álbum hecho para compartir nuestra música, así que cualquiera lo puede bajar totalmente gratis. Espero que lo disfruten!

PAPÁ AL PIANO

Esta semana empecé a tomar clases de piano!!! SI, muy contento con eso ya que es uno de mis instrumentos favoritos en practicamente todos los estilos de música. Tengo un piano desafinado en casa, que alguna vez compré esperando este momento y bueno, finalmente me decidí.
Espero poder estar tocando algo en un par de meses ya que le pongo muchas ganas y me gusta, y gracias a Mariana la profe, que es muy didáctica. Entonces a partir de ahora también habrá algo de piano en este sitio para los que tocan, les gusta o quieren aprender como yo. Wish me luck!

HOX

El fin de semana lo pasamos ensayando y preparando algunos arreglos con Gonzalo. Esto es porque estamos ideando una presentación del disco, y queremos que sea algo "especial", lo que va a llevar mucho trabajo y algo de tiempo. También se estan sumando al proyecto en vivo Gabriel en batería, percusión y programación, Vane en voces y Ale Barrio en guitarras. Aprovechamos para divertirnos un rato e hicimos algunas fotos también, acá tienen un par! Abrazo.

MUCHA MUSICA!

Hey, hace rato que no escribo. Estas dos semana estuve ocupado ensayando con unos amigos algunos covers, y armando unos temas propios en castellano y estan quedando bastante rock!
Hacia bastante que no tocaba con una banda "convencional", y la verdad es que me divertí y me dieron muchas ganas de salir a tocar en vivo, así que si sale todo bien y nos armamos de algún tiempito para repasar un reper, sadremos.

Además, tengo unos buenos recitales para recomendar...
Hay un recital de Dave Matthews y Tim Reynolds en el Radio City Music Hall de New York que tienen que ver; es un acústico con lo mejor del repertorio de DMB y es excelente.
Y el segundo para recomendar es uno de Travis: More than us, en vivo en Glasgow.
Con eso y la discografía de Coldplay me entretuve bastante esta semana.

TU PROPIO ESTUDIO DE GRABACION

Con ansias de armarme un poco. Estoy por comprar una pequeña ZOOM g 2.1, que es una pedalera multi-efectos. Al tener pre sets de ritmos, uno puede ensayar y probar cosas con la guitarra, armar o personalizar los efectos para cada tema y encontrar más variantes para tener un sonido propio. Además (y es por lo que quiero este modelo en particular) trae un procesador incluido para grabar directamente a la PC con salida digital. Lo que quiere decir que teniendo un programa de grabación ( ésta trae CUBASE), voy a poder grabar prácticamente todos los instrumentos que necesite, por medio de la ZOOM, en diferentes pistas; luego junto con otro programa como EZDRUMMER, incluir a la grabación baterías reales, y así armar las canciones. Esta bueno porque grabas lo que queres, y después vas probando lo que queda, y armas todo solo, con mucha menos necesidad de ensayos y horarios.
Poder armar un mini estudio en casa. Una espacio para dedicarnos a nuestra música. Eso para un músico que ya se armó de sus instrumentos, es como el primer paso importante, la manera más práctica y cómoda de trabajar y disfrutar de lo que uno hace. HOY QUE HAY TANTA OFERTA NO ES TAN DIFICIL, HAY QUE ARMARSE, DE A POCO.. . ahí va
Una PC, un procesador, un buen micrófono, auriculares, algún controlador MIDI no está de más, y tus instrumentos o tu voz. Prepara un lugarcito para tu música!

ESCRIBIENDO / ABOUT WRITING

Me parece que a veces hay disparadores. Propios o ajenos; personas, canciones, cosas que te pasan o que no te pasan. Se gestan en tu cabeza y crecen, y quieren salir. Así entonces tomo asiento -y es cuando tener una PC es esencial-, porque por lo menos en mi caso, las letras no salen siempre claras. Escribir en ingles para alguien que no sabe mucho no es fácil. Borras y reescribís hasta que lo que queres decir tiene sentido y se conecta con todo. Entonces cierra la idea, y la letra busca ser canción, a veces instantáneamente o un tiempo después, cuando la melodía aparece.
Hay días que la melodía sale mientras estoy probando cosas en la guitarra, y también hay días que la música me persigue y tengo la necesidad de sentarme en cualquier lado tranquilo a escribirla. Un buen recurso para cuando quiero escribir es escuchar buenas canciones. Sentir lo que me pasa con ellas. Los intérpretes pasan a ser amigos entonces; Que buen tema! me escucho decir, y saco la guitarra y tiro acordes y melodías al aire. Esa es una de las formas en las que escribo, y se convirtió en una manera de crear algo, que cuando sale bien, me hace muy feliz.

MI AMIGO GONZA

Puse un aviso clasificado buscando músicos para armar los temas del disco y entre los llamados y mensajes, apareció Gonza. Cuando entré a su casa me recibió con un abrazo y un HOLA QUERIDO, como un viejo amigo feliz por el reencuentro. El departamento tenía una suerte de estudio de grabación en un rincón, con todos sus instrumentos conectados y listos, como esperándonos.
Nos hicimos una pequeña presentación personal y musical de una media hora.
Que queres hacer? Mostrame. Saqué la guitarra y un cuaderno y canté algunas de las canciones. Escuchaba y adivinaba los tonos en el teclado, desviando la mirada hacia arriba, como decidiendo la orquestación para las melodías. Bueno, listo. Te parece juntarnos un par de veces por semana? pero no llames a nadie más, lo armamos nosotros dos y después mezclamos en estudio. Genial.
Fui descubriendo y admirando a Gonzalo mientras armábamos el disco. Un talento escondido de 25 años, disfrazado de abogado, que en su tiempo libre le ponía además de la voz, arte y buen gusto a las canciones.
Hace algunos años perdí a mi mejor amigo y hermano menor de música, El Chino. Esta amistad se parece mucho a aquella. Debe ser por eso que en tan poco tiempo lo quiero tanto a Gonza y festejo el tenerlo como amigo. Salud!

4000 ENTRADAS A LAS PAGINAS DE HOX

Buenas a todos, esta semana pasamos las 4000 entradas a las paginas de HOX (en tres meses), y fué posible gracias a los amigos y las cadenas que fueron recomendando el disco. Esta semana voy a agragar las letras con acordes al blog.
En abril esperamos preparar alguna presentación en vivo y bueno, esperando llegar por estas cadenas de mails a mas personas y porque no a alguna discográfica.

COMPOSITOR / SONGWRITER

Si alguno de los contenidos del blog está en castellano y en inglés, es simplemente porque las canciones están compuestas en inglés.
Después de estudiar por dos años el idioma, y antes de decidirme a escribir, hice un par de primeros intentos en inglés. Tenía un buen amigo Mark Harrington - vecino neozelandés-, que también era músico y que me ayudo a darle forma a estas melodías y letras.
Grabándolas en un mini estudio casero, me pidió un par de días en los que se encargó de las voces y los teclados. Cuando me llamó para que agregara los solos, las canciones ya tenían vida. No era yo tratando de afinar una letra con mi guitarra, era una canción, con su personalidad y su estado de ánimo, y su manera de hacer sentir cosas. En esos días entendí lo que es componer. La cabeza y el corazón de alguien se van llenando de información, sentimientos, de música, y de cosas por expresar, y cada uno va buscando su manera de sacarlo afuera.
Mi manera empezó así, tenia cosas para decir, y contagiado por músicos británicos y americanos, y con la ayuda de amigos músicos y profesores de inglés, nacieron las primeras canciones.
